About the Pipe Volume & Capacity Calculator

Internal volume tells you how much fluid a line holds — useful for flushing, hydrotesting, chemical dosing and filling schedules. Enter the pipe geometry and the calculator returns bore area, volume per metre and total capacity in litres.

How to use it

  1. 01Enter the outside diameter and wall thickness so the bore can be derived.
  2. 02Enter the total length of the run.
  3. 03Read internal volume per metre and total capacity in litres and m³.

Common questions

How much water does a pipe hold per metre?
Volume per metre in litres = π/4 × bore² (mm) × 1e-3. For example a 100 mm bore holds about 7.85 litres per metre.
How do I get the bore if I only know NPS and schedule?
Take the OD and wall thickness from the steel pipe dimensions chart; bore = OD − 2 × wall thickness.

This calculator is free to use and built for Indian metric practice — weights in kilograms and kg per metre, dimensions in millimetres. Omegha Steel supplies pipes, fittings, flanges and fasteners from Kolkata to projects across India; send us the sizes you have calculated and we will quote on them.
