How to specify flanges
A flange is defined by standard, size, pressure class, facing and material. All five must match on both halves of the joint.
- Confirm the pressure class (150, 300, 600 and upward) from the line list
- State the facing — raised face, flat face or ring type joint
- Weld neck for higher pressure and cyclic duty; slip-on for lower-pressure utility lines
- Above NPS 24 the applicable standard changes from ASME B16.5 to B16.47
